Life on the Ranch

Meet Our Flock!

We're also home to Red's Hens that produce some of the most flavorful and nutritious eggs! Currently we have 1 rooster, 23 laying hens and 10 pullets. Our ranch is approximately 12 acres and it provides a plethora of space for our hens to forage. They love spending their afternoons and evenings exploring the property.

Eggs Galore!

A difference you can taste.

Our girls are fed Organic Layer Crumbles by Nature's Best along with Hi Pro Scratch by Nutrena. During molting our girls consume Nutrena NatureWise Feather Fixer. They also enjoying foraging the ranch for delicious treats. By allowing the hens to forage the property it provides them with a diverse diet and provides a more flavorful egg.

Did you know?

The egg bloom, is a natural translucent coating applied by the hen just before laying the egg. This coating seals the egg's pores and provides a protective barrier from bacteria. This allows unwashed farm-fresh eggs to be stored safely at room temperature for several weeks.

Eggs that are purchased in the store are often 60 days old when you're purchasing them. Stores are allowed to sell eggs 30 days from when they are packaged and farms are allowed to package them 30 days from when they are laid. Most eggs have a 4-6 week window of consumption after being purchased. That means if you're eating store bought eggs they're likely 60-90 days old!

Studies have shown conventional store-bought eggs generally have lower nutritional value compared to pasture-raised alternatives, including less vitamin A, vitamin E, and omega-3 fatty acids. Store bought eggs have a pale yellow yoke due to the limited diet and being less nutritious as the dark yellow / orange yokes of farm-fresh eggs.
